Manchester United forward, Anthony Martial out for 10 weeks

Manchester United has confirmed that the club’s striker, Anthony Martial, will be out of action for approximately 10 weeks after undergoing “successful” groin surgery.

The 28-year-old has been absent from Manchester United’s lineup since the 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth on December 9.

Due to the injury, Martial will be sidelined until April, coinciding with the expiration of his contract with the club in the summer.

“We wish Anthony a speedy recovery and look forward to his return,” United said in a statement.

Martial was unavailable due to illness during the Christmas period, and it was later revealed that he had a groin injury, causing him to miss the last seven games across all competitions for Manchester United.

In the current Premier League season, the former Monaco forward has only managed to score once in 13 appearances.

Additionally, in the previous season, he participated in just 28 out of United’s 62 matches. Martial, who joined United from Monaco in 2015 for £36m, experienced a dip in form, leading to a loan spell with Sevilla for the 2021-22 season.
