Manchester United have rejected an approach from Italian club Napoli for winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The Serie A side has identified the 20-year-old Argentina international as their top target, intending to use funds from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s expected transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
Napoli’s initial offer for Garnacho, reportedly around £40 million, fell well below United’s valuation of the player. While the exact details of the communication remain unclear, the bid did not meet the Red Devils’ expectations.
Although United are open to offers for some academy graduates to support manager Ruben Amorim’s squad rebuild, the club is not actively seeking bids for Garnacho or England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
Speaking on Wednesday, Amorim reaffirmed that Garnacho remains a key part of Manchester United’s future plans.
“That is clear. He has talent,” said Amorim.
“I think he changed the way he sees himself.
“He’s finding the best way to play in this system and is improving during training.”
Alejandro Garnacho played the full 90 minutes as Manchester United secured a 3-1 comeback victory over Southampton at Old Trafford on Thursday in the Premier League, powered by Amad Diallo’s stunning 12-minute hat-trick.
Signed from Atletico Madrid in 2021, Garnacho has made 117 first-team appearances for United since his debut in 2022, scoring 23 goals.
This season, he has found the net eight times in 31 appearances but was dropped—alongside teammate Marcus Rashford—by manager Ruben Amorim for December’s win against Manchester City at the Etihad.
