Manchester United whip Everton to give Amorim first league win
Ruben Amorim secured his first Premier League win in commanding style as his Manchester United team easily dispatched struggling Everton at Old Trafford.
After drawing against Ipswich in his debut match last weekend and defeating Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday, Amorim’s side delivered a dominant performance on Sunday.
Although initially wasteful in the final third and lacking control, United capitalized when it mattered, with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee each scoring twice.
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, whom United had attempted to sign in the summer, endured a difficult outing.
He inadvertently deflected Rashford’s low shot into his own net for the opening goal and later lost possession, allowing Amad Diallo to set up Bruno Fernandes, who assisted Zirkzee’s first goal.
United effectively sealed the win just 29 seconds into the second half, as Diallo provided a perfect through ball for Rashford to score. Zirkzee added a fourth in the 64th minute, ensuring a comfortable victory for the hosts.
