Kylian Mbappé scored his first two La Liga goals as Real Madrid secured a win over Real Betis.

The French forward opened the scoring by latching onto Federico Valverde’s backheel and slotting the ball past Rui Silva.

He later converted a penalty, sending Silva the wrong way after the goalkeeper had brought down Vinicius Jr.

Before this match, Mbappé had gone three La Liga games without scoring, despite netting on his debut for the club in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta.

The 25-year-old, who joined Real Madrid this summer from Paris Saint-Germain—where he remains the all-time top scorer with 256 goals—scored his first goal from his 25th shot of the La Liga season, with the penalty coming from his 26th, more attempts than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

Real Betis had early opportunities, with Abde Ezzalzouli heading wide and Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque forcing a save with his first touch off the bench.

Madrid, however, created plenty of chances as well, with Mbappé missing seven shots before finally scoring, and both Eder Militao and Valverde testing the goalkeeper. Vinicius Jr. also hit the post with a deflected shot.

Real Madrid remains unbeaten after four league games, though they trail Barcelona by four points. Meanwhile, Betis has only managed one point from their first three matches.
