Kylian Mbappe was substituted at half-time and spent the second half in the stands alongside his mother as Paris St-Germain drew with his former club Monaco.

Mbappe, PSG’s leading goal scorer of all time with 244 goals, has reached an agreement to join Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Manager Luis Enrique substituted him with Randal Kolo Muani at half-time.

Following his substitution, Mbappe, aged 25, changed into a tracksuit and conversed on his phone in the tunnel before joining his family in the stands instead of sitting with his teammates on the bench.

The club has not provided an official explanation for his substitution.

During the previous weekend, manager Luis Enrique mentioned that PSG would need to adapt to playing without Kylian Mbappe after he was substituted in the draw with Rennes.

PSG is scheduled to visit Real Sociedad in the Champions League last-16 second leg on Tuesday.

The champions currently hold a 12-point lead over Brest at the top of Ligue 1, with Monaco trailing by an additional point in third place.
