Messi, Haaland deserve to win Ballon d’Or title – Osimhen

As the 67th Ballon d’Or ceremony approaches in Paris on Monday, Victor Osimhen, the in-form striker for the Super Eagles and Napoli, is elated about his nomination. Additionally, he finds himself among the nominees for FIFA’s The Best award.

While an official shortlist has yet to be unveiled, Osimhen stands in a favorable position to secure the African Footballer of the Year Award, scheduled for December in Morocco.

The Nigerian talent recently engaged with his fans on Twitch, an interactive live streaming service on TV Play, where he discussed various topics, beginning with the Ballon d’Or. Expressing his delight at the nomination, he gracefully acknowledged that the title may ultimately go to Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland of Manchester City.

Osimhen was asked: “Who will win the Ballon d’Or?He replied promptly and straightforwardly: “For me the two who deserve to win are Messi and Haaland. One won the World Cup, the other the Treble. I don’t want to say my opinion on it, but they both deserve to win.”

When asked about his prospects of clinching the prestigious prize, he replied: “Honestly, if one day I can be close to winning it will be sensational, for me. It is already a dream to play at this level. It will be a goal, but not an obsession. If I’m able to be competitive at a certain level, that will be great.”
