Inter Miami CF are set to visit the White House in March to celebrate their 2025 MLS Cup victory, with Argentine star Lionel Messi expected to be present, the Miami Herald reported on Friday.

The outlet, citing an unnamed club source, said “everyone” in the squad will attend the ceremony with U.S. President Donald Trump, scheduled two days before Miami face D.C. United in the capital on March 7.

Messi, 38, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from former president Joe Biden in January 2025 — the highest civilian honour in the United States but did not attend the White House ceremony.

Trump’s interest in football has increased recently, highlighted by several meetings with Gianni Infantino and a high-profile White House visit by Cristiano Ronaldo.

He also participated in the trophy presentation at the FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States last year and appeared on stage during the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Infantino presented him with FIFA’s first peace prize.

Inter Miami concluded a run of international friendlies on Thursday with a 2–1 win over Independiente del Valle in Puerto Rico. They were beaten by Los Angeles FC in their MLS season opener and will face Orlando City SC on Sunday.
