Mikel resumes training with new club, Trabzonspor

Former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has resumed training with his new club, Trabzonspor, after completing his medicals, Sports Extra reports.

Mikel’s medical was delayed having completed his transfer to the club while on national duty with Nigeria at the 2019 AFCON.

The former Chelsea star was joined by Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban, who recently joined the Turkish outfit from Leeds United. Ekuban featured for Ghana at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations  in Egypt.

In a message on Trabzonspor’s official Instagram handle, the club wrote, “Caleb Ekuban and our new transfer Obi Mikel, who were with their national teams during the AFCON, passed their health check.

“The players who completed their health checks continued their work at Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Facilities within the special training program applied to them.”

The Turkish Super Lig is set to resume on August 18 with Trabzonspor billed to face Kasimpasa in the opening fixture.
