Millwall re-sign Hutchinson after earlier release
Shaun Hutchinson is back at The Den, just two months after Millwall released him.
The 33-year-old defender made 257 appearances over eight years with the Lions, but his contract was not renewed in May due to injury limiting his playing time.
However, he has now made a surprise comeback by signing a one-year deal. Hutchinson was renowned for his influential role in the dressing room and is poised to reclaim his position as club captain.
His return coincides closely with Millwall’s successful recruitment of Japhet Tanganga from a recent loan spell, further strengthening their defensive lineup alongside Jake Cooper and Wes Harding ahead of the upcoming Championship season.
Hutchinson may feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Reading tomorrow, with his first appearance in front of Millwall fans potentially occurring during their upcoming warm-weather training camp in Spain next week.
The Lions are scheduled to face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and Real Murcia next Friday at the Pinatar Stadium, games that will mark Hutchinson’s anticipated return, likely to be warmly received by senior players at the club.
