Mohamed Salah ascended past two Liverpool legends on an exclusive chart as his brace secured a 2-0 triumph for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Saturday, October 21.

Two goals in the second half, one of which was a rapid finish during injury time, by the Egyptian star, propelled Liverpool to a victorious return and a temporary ascent to the summit of the Premier League.

Despite the local nature of the match, Liverpool held a significant advantage in the odds, which were further skewed in their favor when Ashley Young of Everton received a red card in the 37th minute.

The former Manchester United player committed a reckless foul on Luis Diaz, leaving the referee with no option but to send the visiting team down to 10 players.

Following that, Liverpool asserted their dominance against Sean Dyche’s team and finally capitalized on their advantage in the 75th minute when they were awarded a penalty due to Michael Keane’s handball.

Salah confidently stepped up and converted the penalty from 12 yards, securing his sixth goal of the season.

Everton appeared to have no hope of recovery after being reduced to 10 players, as they spent the majority of the game defending. In a rare late-game counterattack, they were caught off guard, with Luis Diaz setting up Salah for another straightforward goal, extending Liverpool’s lead to 2-0.

According to reports, Salah’s second goal marked his 201st league goal, but that wasn’t the only significant milestone he reached on that Saturday afternoon.

Thanks to his brace, Salah surpassed Liverpool icons Steven Gerrard and Kenny Dalglish in the all-time list of goal scorers at Anfield.

Liverpool will now shift their focus to the Europa League, with their upcoming match against the French team Toulouse scheduled for Thursday, October 26.
