Israel/Gaza conflict: Mohamed Salah begs world leaders, says humanity must prevail

Liverpool and Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah, has urged “world leaders to come together to prevent further slaughter of innocent souls” amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza.

According to health authorities, a densely populated hospital in Gaza City suffered a devastating explosion on Tuesday night, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives.

The 31-year-old Salah emphasized the immediate necessity of permitting humanitarian aid to Gaza.

“There has been too much violence, heartbreak, and brutality,” he said.

According to Palestinian authorities, the explosion at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital was attributed to an Israeli airstrike.

But the Israeli military contends that it resulted from a misfired rocket launch by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an allegation that the militant group has denied.

Israeli airstrikes and artillery have been relentlessly targeting Gaza in retaliation to a major assault on Israel by Hamas, the main Palestinian militant group, on October 7th, resulting in the tragic loss of 1,400 lives.

Tragically, more than 3,000 individuals have been reported as casualties due to these strikes in Gaza.

Salah has described the scenes from the hospital as “horrifying.”

“The people of Gaza need food, water, and medical supplies urgently,” Salah said in a video posted on X.

“All lives are sacred and must be protected. The massacres need to stop. Families are being torn apart.

“I am calling on the world leaders to come together to prevent further slaughter of innocent souls.

“Humanity must prevail.”
