Morocco etched their name in the history books by clinching their first-ever FIFA U20 World Cup title, securing a 2-0 victory over Argentina in the final held at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Santiago, Chile, on Sunday.

Yassir Zabiri opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a superb curling free-kick that sailed past Argentine goalkeeper Santino Barbi. The North Africans extended their lead in the 28th minute when Othmane Maamma provided a precise assist for Zabiri to convert from close range.

Although Argentina controlled possession with 71 percent of the ball, they struggled to break down Morocco’s well-organised defence. The Moroccan backline stayed composed, shutting down attacking threats, while their goalkeeper stepped up with key saves to maintain the lead.

Even with multiple VAR checks and several free-kick chances, Argentina could not find a breakthrough. Morocco solidified their structure in the second half through tactical substitutions that strengthened both midfield and defence, making it even harder for the South American side to respond.

Zabiri’s brace earned him the man of the match award, capping off a historic night for Moroccan football.
