Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has been voted the winner of the Nantes Player of the Month award for September.
The French club announced on Thursday that Simon secured 53.23 per cent of the total votes cast by the club’s fans to claim the individual honours for the second consecutive month. The Nigerian international also bagged the award in August after a string of consistently brilliant performances.
“You have named Moses Simon the ‘Canary of the Month’ for the month of September,” a statement from the club reads.
“With 53.23 per cent of the votes, Moses Simon is, therefore, your Canary of the Month for the month of September! After August, he is elected again by you, supporters of the Yellow and Green.
“Provider of five assists and a goal during the trip to Reims last week, the Nigerian is one of the men in form at the start of the championship on the Nantes side!
“Congratulations, Moses.”
Simon added two assists – which arrived in the Yellow Canaries’ 4-1 humbling of Angers on September 19 – to the three he supplied in August to become the assist-king in Ligue 1.
The 26-year-old winger also scored his first goal this term in Nantes’ 3-1 loss at Reims. Only Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema (7) and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba (7) have claimed more assists than Simon’s five in any of Europe’s top five leagues.
