Divock Origi has confirmed his retirement from professional football via a post on X, stating that he feels his journey in the game has come to an end.

In his message, he wrote: “My purpose in the game is fulfilled. I lived out my childhood dreams, played on the biggest stages, won the biggest trophies. Grateful to God for all of it. To all my fans, the clubs, my teammates and my family: this will forever be ours. Thank you. The mission is complete. Now I step into my next calling.

Origi began his football journey at Genk’s youth setup before moving to Lille, where he developed into a professional striker. His career peak came during his time at Liverpool, where he spent close to seven years and became part of a trophy-winning squad that secured the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

He made 176 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 41 goals and providing 17 assists, before later moving to AC Milan. His final club was Nottingham Forest, where he played until June 2024.

On the international stage, Origi represented Belgium, earning 32 caps, scoring three goals, and registering two assists.
