Nani, Eder To Miss 2018 World Cup

Former Manchester United star Nani, as well as Eder, have been snubbed by Portugal for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The duo were part of the team that clinched the 2016 European Champions in France but Portuguese Head Coach Fernando Santos has opted for youthful Andre Silva and Goncalo Guedes to play alongside superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Nani is the country’s third most capped player after Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo with 112 games

The 31-year-old has, however, struggled for form this season with his club Lazio where he played only 24 matches.

On the other hand Eder who grabbed an extra-time goal for the side in the final of the 2016 Euros has been inconsistent for his Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow this term.

Portugal are in Group B at the World Cup along with former champions Spain, Morocco and Iran.
