The NBA has launched its own investigation into gambling allegations involving free-agent guard Malik Beasley, commissioner Adam Silver confirmed on Wednesday.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Silver said after the league’s board of governors met in New York. He added that federal officials are also continuing their probe.
Beasley’s lawyer, Steve Haney, told ESPN that the 28-year-old was “fully cooperating” with the league’s inquiry. The case stems from claims that Beasley placed improper bets on NBA games and prop wagers during the 2023–24 season with the Milwaukee Bucks.
In June, ESPN reported that federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York were investigating Beasley. By August, Haney said his client was “no longer a target” of the probe, which had already produced four guilty pleas, including one from ex-NBA player Jontay Porter.
Beasley, who joined Detroit as a free agent in 2024, averaged 16.3 points across 82 games last season. His career has also included stints with Denver, Minnesota, Utah, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
