The Nigeria Cricket Federation has announced the 15-man roster for the men’s senior team, the Yellow Greens, ahead of its ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers against the United States and West Indies in Namibia from November 20 to December 1.
Head coach Steve Tikolo will lead the same team that won the West Africa Trophy in Lagos last month to Windhoek.
Ademola Onikoyi, Sesan Adedeji, Chiemelie Udekwe, Daniel Ajekun, Joshua Asia, and Akhere Isesele are among those on the list, which is headed by Captain Sylvester Okpe.
Other players include the Most Valuable Player during the West Africa Trophy, Isaac Okpe, former Guinness World record holder with the fastest bowling figure Peter Aho, Prosper Useni, Taiwo Muhammed, Isaac Danladi, Ridwan Abdulkareem, opening batter Sulaimon Runsewe and Ashmit Shrestha.
Following their victory at the maiden West Africa Trophy where they won all their 10 matches, the Yellow Greens commenced their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers in Lagos before travelling to Zimbabwe for the final phase of their preparations.
The team will play a number of test games in Zimbabwe before travelling to Namibia for the qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s opponents have also named their squad and also embarked on training tours ahead of the qualifiers.
Nigeria will battle Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Namibia for a place in the USA and West Indies.
The top two teams from the qualifiers will progress to the World Cup which will be played between June 4 to June to 30, 2024.
