Teenage midfielder Lewis Miley, 18, is set to miss Newcastle’s pre-season training due to a broken metatarsal.
Miley, who made 17 Premier League appearances for Newcastle last season, is expected to be sidelined for around 12 weeks.
This means Miley, who also suffered a back injury near the end of the 2023-24 campaign, is likely to miss the start of the league season.
Newcastle’s first league game, a home match against Southampton, is scheduled for 17 August, which is just under seven weeks away.
Miley will miss all of Newcastle’s pre-season activities, including the July tour of Japan.
He played in three of their Champions League games last year and scored once in the Premier League.
