Neymar returns one year after ACL injury

Brazilian forward Neymar made his first appearance for Al-Hilal in over a year after recovering from surgery for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his left knee.

The 32-year-old entered the match in the 77th minute during his team’s 5-4 victory over UAE Pro League side Al-Ain in the Asian Champions League.

Neymar sustained the injury on October 17, 2023, while playing for Brazil in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Uruguay and underwent surgery the following month.

In his return, Neymar nearly scored following an Al-Hilal counter-attack, but Al-Ain regained possession and scored late in the match.

Neymar joined Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023 for a reported fee of approximately 90 million euros (£77.6 million) plus add-ons.

His last two seasons with PSG were plagued by ankle injuries, and he made five appearances for Al-Hilal before suffering his ACL injury.
