NFF expresses outrage over wrong anthem

The Nigeria Football Federation has voiced its displeasure with the Benin Football Federation’s decision to play the old Nigeria national song before Monday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier in Abidjan.

Dayo Enebi Achor, NFF’s Head of International Competitions, stated that the NFF handed over a recording of Nigeria’s new national song to the Benin FA leadership at the Match Coordination Meeting in Abidjan on Sunday evening.

“We gave them the recording of our new national anthem, only for them to play the wrong one at the beginning of the match. We protested strongly, and insisted that the Super Eagles would not start the second half until the new national anthem of Nigeria was played.”
