The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been placed in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
As record holders of the competition, Nigeria will be looking to maintain their remarkable form in the tournament.
The draw for the 2025 edition of the women’s championship was conducted on Friday.
“We have been drawn in Group B alongside Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana for the Morocco 2024 CAF Women’s African Cup of Nations,” the Super Falcons announced on their X handle on Friday. “This promises to be an exciting challenge for us as we aim to reclaim our continental glory.”
Nigeria recently defeated Algeria 6-1 on aggregate in a two-legged friendly played on home soil. Despite finishing a disappointing fourth in the last edition, the team has an impressive history, having won the WAFCON title nine times.
The Super Falcons are set to face France in a friendly match on 30th November.
In Group A, host nation Morocco will compete against Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, while defending champions South Africa will face Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania in Group C.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off in July 2025.
