Ola Aina made his return to competitive action as Nottingham Forest suffered a 3–1 defeat to Aston Villa in their Premier League encounter at Villa Park on Saturday.
The defender had been sidelined since September 2025 after picking up a hamstring injury while representing Nigeria on international duty.
The 29-year-old had last played for Forest in August 2025 before earning a place in the starting lineup against Unai Emery’s side.
Aina was substituted in the 69th minute, making way for Nicolo Savona.
The appearance marked his fourth league outing of the season for the Tricky Trees.
Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi remained on the bench as an unused substitute.
The loss saw Nottingham Forest’s winless run stretch to four matches.
