Olise shines as Crystal Palace whip Manchester United

Crystal Palace achieved their first league double over Manchester United with a dominant 4-0 victory at Selhurst Park.

Michael Olise broke through unchallenged, running 20 yards before calmly placing the ball past Andre Onana to give Oliver Glasner’s team the lead in the 13th minute.

Jean-Philippe Mateta outpaced Johnny Evans to emphatically net his sixth consecutive home goal.

Tyrick Mitchell was on hand to tap in a goal from close range after Adam Wharton delivered an excellent cross in the 58th minute. French prodigy Olise then seized on a mistake by Casemiro to launch a powerful shot past a helpless Onana.

From the outset, Glasner’s team displayed strong determination against a Manchester United side that simply didn’t show up at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United’s defense was notably poor, with Casemiro and Evans forming the team’s 14th different center-back pairing this season.

Eberechi Eze and Olise had ample space to dominate the game and consistently troubled United.

Ten Hag’s team had a few threatening moments, with Casemiro having two goals disallowed—the first for a foul on Dean Henderson and the second for offside.

Odsonne Edouard nearly added insult to injury, but his shot in injury time hit the post.

With a game against title contenders Arsenal up next, United needs to make significant improvements to avoid another heavy defeat.
