Olympic champion Rojas misses Paris through injury
Olympic triple jump champion Yulimar Rojas will not compete in Paris 2024 due to an Achilles tendon injury.
The Venezuelan athlete suffered the injury during a training session in Spain and subsequently underwent surgery in Madrid.
Rojas, who currently holds the world record, secured gold at the Tokyo Games and boasts four world championship titles.
“My heart is broken and I want to say sorry that I will not be able to take part in Paris 2024,” the 28-year-old said in a statement on her X, external account.
