Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, has qualified for their first-ever Olympics basketball quarter-final after defeating Canada 79-70 on Sunday.
Nigeria lost the second and fourth quarters 23-19 and 24-19, respectively, but their dominant performance in the third quarter, winning 23-5, proved to be the game-changer. The first quarter ended in a tie at 18 points each.

Ezinne Kalu led the scoring for Nigeria with 21 points. Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah topped the team in rebounds with 7, while Promise Amukamara had the most assists, totaling 6.

The victory means D’Tigress have won two of their three group games and lost one, scoring 208 points and letting in 207 in the process.
