Osimhen scores again as Galatasaray lose to Villarreal in final pre-season game

Victor Osimhen continued his impressive pre-season form by scoring for Galatasaray in their 2-1 defeat to Villarreal in their final friendly match on Saturday.

The Nigerian striker was also on target last Sunday, scoring one of Galatasaray’s goals in their 3-3 draw against French Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Galatasaray ended their pre-season campaign with just one victory from five matches, suffering three defeats and recording one draw.

Ayoze Perez put Villarreal ahead from the penalty spot in the third minute, but Osimhen restored parity for Galatasaray just two minutes later.

The Spanish side regained the lead four minutes before half-time through Georges Mikautadze, who scored the goal that ultimately secured victory for Villarreal.

Galatasaray will now turn their attention to competitive football, with newly promoted Corum FK awaiting them in the first round of the Turkish Super League next Friday.

Osimhen played a key role in Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig triumph last season, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in 22 appearances.

The title was his second league championship, having previously won the league during the 2024/2025 season while on loan from Napoli.
