Former England forward Michael Owen has criticised Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah for his outburst directed at manager Arne Slot.

After Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United — a match in which Salah was left on the bench for a third straight game — the winger spoke to the media to express his displeasure.

Salah disclosed that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had worsened.

Responding to the situation, Owen argued that the Egyptian should avoid complaining and instead concentrate on representing his nation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

“Oh Mo Salah. I can imagine how you feel. You’ve carried this team for a long time and won everything there is to win.

“But this is a team game and you simply can’t publicly say what you’ve said.

“You’re going to Afcon in a week. Surely you bite your lip, enjoy representing your country and see how the land lies when you get back?”
