Pep Guardiola hits back at Ceferin over financial fair play charges comment
Pep Guardiola has told Aleksander Ceferin to “acknowledge the established process” in reaction to the remarks made by the UEFA president regarding the alleged Financial Fair Play violations by Manchester City.
Ceferin, in a recent statement to the Telegraph, affirmed that UEFA’s decision to impose a two-year European football ban on City in 2020 was justified.
However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport later overturned the sanction on appeal.
Additionally, City is currently disputing allegations from the Premier League accusing the club of violating its financial regulations.
“As a lawyer that he is and president of Uefa, he should wait and after do whatever he wants,” said Guardiola.
“He has to respect it and he has to wait. He has a lot of jobs to do at Uefa. A lawyer should respect the procedure and understand we have a right to defend ourselves.”
In February of the previous year, City faced charges involving 115 violations of Premier League regulations.
Although Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters has confirmed that a hearing date has been established, during his testimony in front of MPs earlier this month, he refrained from disclosing the specific date of the hearing.
