Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was on Sunday conferred with a chieftaincy title by the traditional ruler of Mgbede community in Egbema Kingdom, Rivers State, Nzeobi Amida.
According to a Nigerian sports website, BSN, the title “Ugo Egbema, The Pride of Egbema Kingdom,” was bestowed upon the goalkeeper in recognition of his performance at the recently concluded 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
According to BSN, Amuda, who serves as the chairman of the ONELGA Council of Chiefs, stated that the title awarded to Nwabali acknowledges the honor he brought to Egbema Kingdom and ONELGA through his achievements with the Super Eagles.
Reports state that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, presented N20 million to Nwabali, a native of Rivers State, on Friday, and bestowed upon him the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State.
Additionally, President Bola Tinubu honored every player and official of the Nigerian Super Eagles with the Member of the Order of the Niger national award on Tuesday, in recognition of their achievement in securing the silver medal at the recently concluded AFCON.
