Plateau United and hosts Enyimba shared the spoils in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 18 fixture in Aba on Saturday, with centre-back Austin Okpara scoring the equalizer.

The draw means that the Jos-based club has now gone 10 games unbeaten in the league, but the result was insufficient to see them leapfrog leaders Rivers United, who have a better goals difference ratio.

Enyimba took the lead in the 28th minute through striker Victor Mbaoma, but Plateau centre-back Austin Okpara equalized in the 71st minute to keep the Fidelis Ilechukwu side unbeaten in ten league games.

Plateau have won eight of their last 10 games recording two draws. However, the draw for Enyimba leaves them eight on the table after 18 games with 25 points.

Niger Tornadoes piped Remo Stars 1-0 in their matchday 18 fixture at the Kwara Sports Complex on Saturday.

Musa Wakili scored the only goal of the encounter in the fourth minute from the penalty spot. Tornadoes goalkeeper George Michael earned plaudits after his impressive performance for the side as he stood firm in goal despite Remo’s several attempts to level the game.

The Ikenne-based side are third in the league but could relinquish their position to either Kwara United, Enugu Rangers or Akwa United.

Rivers United however will be hoping to go three points clear on top of the league table when they face Gombe United in Gombe on Sunday.

The Stanley Eguma-led side have lost just one game this season.
