The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has launched disciplinary proceedings against Cristiano Ronaldo and imposed a precautionary suspension on the forward.

In a resolution adopted by its Non-Professional Division on October 9, 2026, the federation said the investigation would determine whether Ronaldo’s conduct during an incident on October 7, 2026, amounted to a disciplinary offence.

The FPF clarified that the suspension was imposed under an urgent procedure and was separate from any automatic precautionary suspension the player might have incurred before the disciplinary proceedings commenced.

The case was referred to the federation’s Disciplinary Investigation Committee on October 10, 2026, for further investigation.

According to the FPF, the proceedings will remain confidential until the investigation is concluded.
