Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has shared his attempts to persuade Manchester City midfielder Rodri to join the Spanish giants.
This follows the retirement of Toni Kroos at the end of last season, leaving a void in Real Madrid’s midfield.
In an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, Carvajal revealed his efforts to convince his Spain teammate to leave the English club and return to his hometown.
“Yes, without a doubt, I tell him every day: ‘Leave Manchester, there is no sun, come to Madrid because we need you, and you are from here in Madrid,’” Carvajal said.
Despite Carvajal’s persistent efforts, Rodri remains committed to Manchester City.
“He says: ‘Yes, well, I have a contract, there are no clauses here.’ It gives me pause, it gives me delay, but it would be the signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid… I think it would fit perfectly,” Carvajal added.
Rodri has been a standout defensive midfielder in recent years, with his exceptional performances making him a top contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Since joining Manchester City, the Spaniard has secured four Premier League titles, one Champions League, and an FA Cup.
