Real Madrid forward sends message to Barcelona’s Gavi after ACL injury

Spain wrapped up their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a win at the Jose Zorilla stadium against Georgia, securing the top spot in the group after a three-one victory over Cyprus.

The encounter with Willy Sagnol’s team served as a preparatory test for the upcoming tournament scheduled for June 2024.

Despite the relaxed atmosphere maintained by La Roja, tension escalated in the 19th minute when Cremonese’s Luka Luchoshovili committed a foul against midfielder Pablo Gavi.

The Barcelona midfielder spent several minutes on the field holding his knee and eventually had to be stretchered off after going down unchallenged, clutching the same knee seven minutes later.

According to reports, the 19-year-old, visibly emotional and reduced to tears, suffered damage to his anterior cruciate ligament, leading to a minimum six-month spell on the sidelines.

Amid the somber mood caused by the 2022 Golden Boy Award winner’s injury, a Real Madrid forward has expressed support for the young midfielder on social media.

Joselu Mato of Los Blancos, who shares the Spanish national team with Gavi, turned to Instagram to uplift the spirits of the Barcelona star after his injury.

In a Spanish post, he expressed, “Estamos contigo, Gavi. Volverás más fuerte que nunca” (We are with you, Gavi. You will come back stronger than ever).”

Gavi’s injury once again underscores the rigorous football schedule that players currently face. It’s worth noting that Real Madrid recently suffered the loss of Vinicius Jr and midfielder Eduardo Camavinga to long-term injuries during the international window.
