Nigeria’s Super Eagles are expected to usher in a new kit era in 2027 following the Nigeria Football Federation’s reported agreement with German sportswear giant Adidas on a record-breaking partnership.

Under the reported arrangement, Adidas will provide the NFF with $4.5 million in annual cash payments, alongside equipment valued at a further $4 million each year for Nigeria’s national teams.

The cash payment is estimated at roughly ₦6.1 billion, while the annual equipment package is worth about ₦5.4 billion.

The deal will also reportedly allow the NFF to receive 20 per cent of revenue from sales made through Adidas stores, creating another potential income stream for the federation.

Based on the reported figures, the agreement would rank as the most lucrative kit-supply deal involving an African football federation in terms of overall revenue. Nigeria’s annual cash component is also reportedly more than twice Morocco’s.

The partnership could ease some of the financial pressure on the NFF, which has encountered funding and administrative difficulties involving the country’s national teams.

The benefits are expected to extend beyond the Super Eagles, with the Super Falcons and Nigeria’s youth teams also set to receive equipment under the agreement. This could help lower the federation’s expenses on kits and other supplies for training camps, qualifiers and major international competitions.

The 20 per cent share of merchandise sales could become particularly valuable for the NFF if Adidas generates strong demand for Nigeria’s national-team shirts.

Nigeria has already shown the global commercial potential of its football kits, most notably at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, when the Super Eagles’ Nike jersey attracted significant international attention.

If Adidas can replicate that level of popularity with its Nigeria merchandise, the federation could generate considerable additional revenue over the duration of the partnership.

The reported agreement therefore represents more than a simple change of kit manufacturer. It could establish a commercially significant relationship that provides the NFF with additional income while ensuring equipment is supplied to Nigeria’s various national teams.

The partnership is expected to begin next year, ending the current kit arrangement and ushering in a new chapter for the Super Eagles, Super Falcons and the country’s other national sides.
