Roma advanced to the semi-finals of the Europa League by defeating Serie A counterparts AC Milan at Stadio Olimpico.

Gianluca Mancini broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 12th minute, followed by Paulo Dybala doubling Roma’s advantage 10 minutes later, sealing a 3-1 aggregate triumph.

Daniele de Rossi’s team was reduced to 10 men following Mehmet Zeki Celik’s reckless challenge on Rafael Leao, while Matteo Gabbia netted a late consolation goal for Milan.

Defender Mancini reacted swiftly to slot home Lorenzo Pellegrini’s rebounded shot off the post, while World Cup winner Dybala extended the home side’s lead with a spectacular lob over Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

England international Tammy Abraham, making his return from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, entered the field in the 28th minute to replace the injured Romelu Lukaku.

Roma is set to face Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals for a shot at reaching the Europa League final, following Leverkusen’s victory over West Ham.
