Roma’s defender Evan Ndicka endured a collapsed lung during Sunday’s Serie A match against Udinese, as revealed by manager Daniele de Rossi.
Ndicka, aged 24, collapsed during the 72nd minute, leading to the abandonment of the game following his stretcher exit.
Fortunately, he was discharged from the hospital on Monday.
“A collapsed lung is a painful thing but luckily, if we can say that, he’s not suffering from what we feared,” De Rossi said.
The Ivorian player spent a night under observation before being discharged to Rome, as tests showed no indication of heart problems.
Ndicka, who joined Roma from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 on a free transfer, has played 19 times in Serie A.
The match was halted with the score tied at 1-1.
Roma plans to provide complimentary heart screenings for fans aged 45 and above at a nearby hospital before their upcoming home game against Bologna on April 22nd.
