Ronaldo brace helps send Portugal into quarter-finals
Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning bicycle kick sealed Portugal’s place in the Nations League quarter-finals with a commanding victory over Poland.
Ronaldo’s spectacular strike, his second goal of the match, came in the closing minutes as he acrobatically finished at the far post, capping a dominant performance by the hosts.
Portugal’s second-half resurgence began with Rafael Leão heading in the opener. Shortly after, Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior’s foul in the box led to a penalty, which Ronaldo confidently converted by sending the ball down the middle.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes added a brilliant third goal, smashing a powerful shot off the underside of the bar. Chelsea winger Pedro Neto followed with a clinical finish at the near post, wrapping up a comprehensive display.
Although Dominik Marczuk scored a late consolation for Poland, it did little to dampen the celebrations of the Portuguese fans, who were thrilled by their team’s second-half dominance.
Ronaldo’s brace continued his impressive Nations League form, bringing his tally to five goals in five matches.
With this victory, Portugal secured top spot in Group A1, advancing to the quarter-finals, while Poland’s campaign came to an end.
