Ronaldo hits 801 career goals, grabs brace in United’s win over Arsenal

Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed a brace on Thursday to take his career scoring record to 801, as Manchester United defeated Arsenal 3-2 at Old Trafford.

United have been struggling in the Premier League this season which led to the sack of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Arsenal opened scoring on 13 minutes through Emile Smith Rowe as he latched on to a superb pass and broke through the defence before firing a shot from mid-range that went past the goalkeeper inside the left post.

United fought back on 44 minutes as Fred teed up Bruno Fernandes inside the box, and he kept his cool to find the right side of the goal to make it 1-1.

Ronaldo put United in front on 52 minutes, latching on to a precise pass deep inside the box from Marcus Rashford, and he beat the goalkeeper with a low accurate shot into the bottom left corner to make it 2-1.

Arsenal equalised two minutes later from a superb work from Gabriel Martinelli, who played a vital role in the build-up.

He squared it to Martin Odegaard, who beat David de Gea with a brilliant shot into the bottom left corner.

United were awarded a penalty after Fred was brought down. The referee initially ruled out the penalty, but after a review by VAR, it was given.

Ronaldo stepped up calmly and placed the ball into the roof of the net to make it 3-2 for United.

United have now moved to seventh on the table, 11 points adrift of leader Chelsea
