Ronaldo sets new Saudi Pro League scoring record

Cristiano Ronaldo declared, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me,” after setting a new record for goals scored in a Saudi Pro League season.

The 39-year-old Portugal forward netted twice in Al-Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al-Ittihad, bringing his tally to 35 goals for the season.

This achievement surpasses Abderrazak Hamdallah’s record of 34 goals set in the 2018-19 season, also for Al-Nassr, but in four fewer matches.

Since joining Al-Nassr on a free transfer in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United, Ronaldo has scored 64 goals in 69 games across all competitions.

The recent win secured Al-Nassr a second-place finish in the league for the second consecutive season, ending 14 points behind champions Al-Hilal and 17 points ahead of third-placed Al-Ahli.

Ronaldo has now scored a total of 765 goals in his 22-year career, which includes stints at Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

He also holds the men’s record for international goals, with 128 goals in 206 appearances for Portugal.
