Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays as a forward for Al Nassr, will not feature in Portugal’s squad for next week’s international friendly matches due to injury concerns.

According to a post on Friday by Fabrizio Romano, the decision followed talks between his club and Portugal’s national team staff, with both sides agreeing to prioritise the player’s recovery.

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Portugal squad for the friendly games next week as he’s still injured.

Priority to full recovery after discussions between Al Nassr and Portugal backroom staff,” the post read.

Ronaldo is currently undergoing rehabilitation, with medical personnel deciding against taking risks that could worsen his condition ahead of more important fixtures.

His absence is viewed as a precaution, allowing the experienced forward enough time to regain full fitness before returning to action for both club and country.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored 22 goals in all competitions for Al Nassr so far this season.

Portugal is scheduled to face the United States and Mexico on March 28 and then play the United States again on March 31.

These games serve as part of the team’s final preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
