Marcus Rashford has failed to meet expectations for Manchester United this season.

The standing of the England international with the club’s supporters reached its lowest point on Saturday following United’s loss to Newcastle. They criticized Rashford for his lack of effort in that match.

The Manchester United legend was blunt in his assessment, stating: “Marcus Rashford is a local lad, he got a mega contract, and that’s great. I need a bit more, you run forwards, but you have to run backwards. We have to cover ground.”

Keane wants Rashford to lead by example

Keane emphasized that Rashford, now 26 years old, is no longer a youngster.

The former United captain urged the Englishman to demonstrate his leadership qualities and set a positive example for the younger United players, stating:

“He must lead by example. He’s one of the most experienced players in this locker room, and if he doesn’t lead by example, it’s not good.”
