Super Eagles of Nigeria and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has been named the best striker in the Italian top flight for the 2022–23 season.
The organiser of the Italian topflight, Lega Serie A, made the announcement on their Twitter handle on Friday.
Osimhen beat AC Milan forward Rafael Leao and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez to the individual accolade.
The 24-year-old played a crucial role in Napoli’s Scudetto win, the club’s first in over three decades.
The Nigerian scored 25 league goals for the Partenopei this season.
The 2022–23 campaign comes to a close on Sunday, and Osimhen is on track to be named Capocannoniere (top scorer).
His Napoli teammate, Kim Min-Jae, gets the nod as the best defender.
His strike partner Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was named the Serie A Player of the Season.
The Georgian scored 12 goals and had 10 assists in the league this season. Overall, he got 14 strikes and 10 assists in 42 games in the current campaign.
Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barrela won the best midfielder crown.
