The son of Italy and AS Roma icon Francesco Totti, Cristian Totti, has retired from football at just 19 years old, as reported by africatopsports.com.
The young striker had stints with the youth setups of Roma, Frosinone, Rayo Vallecano, and most recently featured in Serie D with Olbia. Despite showing promise, Cristian faced immense pressure throughout his career, largely due to the weight of his surname.
His time at Olbia was particularly challenging, as he became the target of harsh online criticism—more for his physical appearance than his performances on the pitch. Overwhelmed by expectations, Cristian has now chosen to walk away from competitive football.
However, he’s not stepping away from the sport entirely. Cristian has joined the Totti Soccer School, founded by his father and managed by his elder brother, Riccardo. He will work alongside general manager Claudio D’Ulisse, focusing on scouting and mentoring young talent—a new chapter in football, off the pitch.
Francesco Totti: A Legendary Career
Francesco Totti, now 48, spent his entire professional career at AS Roma. He won one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia titles, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. With 250 league goals, he is the second-highest scorer in Italian league history and Roma’s all-time leading scorer and appearance maker.
He was part of the Italy squad that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup and was a key figure in the team that finished runners-up at Euro 2000. Totti also featured in the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004, before retiring from international football in 2007 due to persistent injuries.
