Southampton close to appointing Ivan Juric as manager

Southampton is nearing the appointment of Ivan Juric as their new manager on an 18-month contract.

The Croatian coach is set to replace Russell Martin, who was dismissed after Southampton’s 5-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

Juric, 49, most recently managed Roma, where he was sacked in November following just 12 matches in charge.

This role at Southampton would be Juric’s first managerial position outside Italy, with his contract reportedly including a summer break clause.

Club sources reveal that Juric was among the top candidates considered as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s successor when Nathan Jones was hired in November 2022.

The club is seeking a manager who can bring stability and discipline to the squad following the heavy loss to Spurs.

It is unlikely that Juric will be in charge for Sunday’s match against Fulham (14:00 GMT).

Currently, Southampton sits at the bottom of the Premier League table, nine points adrift of safety, with just one win to their name this season.
