Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare will today unveil the 2020 National Sports Festival (NSF) logo and team song in Benin, Edo State to begin the countdown of the Games bill for March next year.
Before the unveiling scheduled for Edo State Government House, the Minister will inspect facilities at the refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium where the majority of the events will take place.
The Minister will also visit other designated venues outside the stadium where other events like shooting, cricket and other outdoor games will take place.
Dare, according to source, will also hold a joint meeting with the members of Main Organising Committee (MOC) headed by the Sports’ Ministry Permanent Secretary and Local Organising Committee headed by the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, on the readiness of the state to host a hitch free festival.
The Minister will visit the University of Benin and Benin Technical College, Ugbowo which will serve as athletes’ hostels during the games that will feature 28 sports.
It would be recalled that Edo State got the hosting right in 2018 at the end of the 20th edition hosted by the Sports Ministry inconjunction with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
