Stay away from our matches, Ekiti FC warns fans

The management of Ekiti United Football Club of Ado-Ekiti on Monday said spectators would no longer be allowed access to the club’s home games.

Qu’ozeem Oladapo, the club’s Media Officer, in a statement said the decision became necessary so as to comply with Federal Government’s directives on compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

Government had given the directives through the Presidential Task Force (PTF)on COVID-19.

“We wish to inform our teeming fans that the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols, as prescribed by the PTF on COVID-19 which prohibits spectators from accessing the stadium to watch live football games, is still in force.

“As a club, Ekiti United FC adores and appreciates the support always shown us by our fans both during home and away matches which had spurred us to our current performance.

“However, we wish to passionately appeal to all our esteemed fans and supporters to kindly support our quest to abide by the directives.

“The directives ban coming together of multiple people (crowd) at social or sports events.

“To this end, we wish to use this medium to inform all our fans and stakeholders that the ‘Empty stadium and no entry’ directive as a COVID-19 precautionary measure will henceforth be strictly adhered to.”

Oladapo added that as from the team’s upcoming home match, frantic efforts to avoid entrance into the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, their home venue, would be enforced.

“This is to save Ekiti United FC from losing vital points at home or being unnecessarily sanctioned at this crucial time that we are having our eyes on qualifying for the top eight stage of the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League (NNL),” he said.
