Nigeria’s senior national team has emerged as the champions of the Unity Cup in England, securing a 5-4 victory over Jamaica in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

The Super Eagles took an early lead in the 9th minute when Moses Simon found the back of the net after excellent buildup play by Cyriel Dessers. However, the advantage was short-lived, as Jamaica equalized three minutes later through Kaheim Dixon.

The first half ended in a 1-1 stalemate, and upon resumption, Nigeria regained the lead in the 53rd minute courtesy of Samuel Chukwueze. Yet again, Jamaica responded swiftly, leveling the score just ten minutes later with Jon Russell heading in unmarked inside Nigeria’s box.

With no further goals in regulation time, the match went directly to penalties. The Super Eagles converted all their spot kicks, while Jamaica missed one, handing Nigeria a 5-4 victory.

Debutant Uche Chrisantus delivered the decisive penalty for Nigeria, with Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Bruno Onyemaechi also converting their attempts confidently.
