Spanish La Liga club Valencia has secured its first signing under new manager Carlos Corberán, bringing in Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq on loan.
The deal had been in progress prior to Corberán’s return to the club, and the new manager approved the move. Real Sociedad, eager to part ways with the player, agreed to the terms.
Sadiq’s time at Real Sociedad was marred by injury, which prematurely disrupted his stint following his arrival in 2022.
With only three goals last season, the 27-year-old struggled to make an impact, prompting Sociedad to signal their willingness to offload him.
Valencia capitalized on the opportunity, signing Sadiq on loan until the end of the season.
The agreement includes a €1 million loan fee and a purchase option valued at under €10 million, available this summer.
With Valencia managing just 17 goals in 18 league matches this season, Corberán will hope Sadiq can help turn their fortunes around.
