Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has been named the winner of the 2024/25 Ebony Shoe Award, an accolade given to the best African player in Belgium.
The KRC Genk striker, aged 24, earned the honor on Monday after an impressive season in which he scored 20 goals in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, making him the second-highest scorer in the competition.
His contributions were instrumental in helping Genk finish at the top of the league during the regular season, although the team faced challenges in the championship play-offs.
Arokodare is the sixth Nigerian to win the prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Paul Onuachu, who claimed it in 2021, as well as past winners Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Godwin Opara, and Celestine Babayaro.
Born in Festac Town, Lagos, Arokodare made his Super Eagles debut in 2025, coming on as a substitute for Victor Osimhen during a World Cup qualification match against Rwanda.
He earned his second cap shortly after in a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe during the same qualification campaign.
