Paris St-Germain (PSG), reduced to ten men, extended their lead at the summit of Ligue 1 to 12 points following a 2-0 victory against Marseille.

Vitinha broke the deadlock at the Stade Velodrome with a low shot past Pau Lopez in the 52nd minute. Later on, substitute Goncalo Ramos secured the victory for PSG as they put an end to Marseille’s 19-game unbeaten streak at home.

PSG had to navigate more than 50 minutes with only 10 players after defender Lucas Beraldo received a red card for fouling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Marseille, under the management of Jean-Louis Gasset, believed they had equalized just before the hour mark when Jordan Veretout scored. However, the goal was disallowed for offside, with Luis Henrique judged to have obstructed Gianluigi Donnarumma’s vision.

PSG’s captain Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to join Real Madrid in the summer, was substituted in the 63rd minute.

With just 10 points needed from their remaining seven matches, the reigning champions are on track to defend their Ligue 1 title.
